Intel a new contendor to the smartphone market, but the undisputed king of computer processors thinks that the quad core (4 core) and to some extend dual core (2 core) processors widely used in high-end Android devices are not efficient and don’t really boost the performance.
Intel feels that a single core processor is all the Android needs, and multiplying the number of cores is not an efficient move by manufacturers. Intel questions the need for so much processing power at the cost of poor battery life, expensive components and excesive heating!
According to Intel, Android’s thread scheduler isn’t up to the mark when it comes to getting the best performance out of the various multi core processors.
Well, it is a debated topic! But, we do hope if nobody else Intel is doing something about it!
