Interactive Web App from Google Mobile

June 15th, 2009 | by Pallavi Dinesh |

Now you can speed your way through Gmail in your mobile thanks to Google which announced the Interactive Webapp series.

This series will include all new features for Gmail for mobile. The latest in the series is faster address auto-completion and keyboard shortcuts.

Faster address auto-completion helps you complete the address of a friend or colleague as soon as you type out fist few letters of their names or email address. Gmail for mobile will display a list of possible contacts starting with the letters you just typed in. You select the one you want and the address box is filled in a jiffy. The app reuses previously fetched details in later searches.

The other new improvement in Google for mobile is the keyboard shortcuts for Android-powered devices with a physical keyboard. You can use the Gmail keyboard shortcuts for moving rapidly through your inbox. Press ‘u’ to return to the inbox while reading an email or you can press ‘n’ to move to the next conversation.

You can try out Gmail for mobile at gmail.com in your mobile browser. Gmail for mobile supports iPhone/iPod Touch OS 2.2.1 or above and also all Android-powered devices. Note that it is available for US English only.
