My G1 Finally Gets The RC29 Update
November 6th, 2008 | by Rosemary Rey |Anyone with a G1 knows there are still quite a few bugs to be worked out, not connecting to Wi-Fi, phone’s freezing up, no 3G connectivity and poor battery life just to name a few. With this in mind, Google along with T-Mobile have been working together to push out a much needed software update to all G1’s.Â
The new RC29 update includes a fix to the browser vulnerability and a couple of other minor changes as well, said Michael Kirkland, a Google spokesman. The G1 was initially released with an RC19 software version. Some G1 users received an RC 28 update while others have received the  RC29 update. I’ve received my RC 29 update and let me tell you it’s like night and day. I am always connected to the 3G network now, plus I receive notifications about available Wi-Fi connections. My phone seems to be running more smoothly, there are a ton less hi-cups when browsing the web or reading emails. Charging the battery has dropped from twice a day to once a day. My phone actually works like it’s supposed to, thank you RC29!
