Wi-Fi @ 32,000 Feet
August 15th, 2008 | by Rosemary.R |Delta Air Lines has announced that by late 2009, in-flight Wi-Fi Service will be offered on their entire domestic fleet. Delta has partnered with Aircell, an airborne communications provider, to install broadband networks on more than 330 aircrafts. Wi-Fi enabled devices such as smartphones or laptops will be able to access the internet while in flight. However, like everything else on flights these days, there will be a small fee, $9.95 for flights 3 hours or less and $12.95 for flights more than 3 hours. American Airlines will offer the same Wi-Fi service later this year on 15 of its aircraft. JetBlue offers free Wi-Fi on one aircraft which flies transcontinental routes while U.S. Airways plans to offer Wi-Fi on a trial basis on one Airbus aircraft this fall.
