smartphone frenzy in 2008
November 19th, 2008 | by Pallavi Dinesh |Let’s face it - 2008 is coming to a close and thank goodness for that! I am sure many people are looking forward to January 1, 2009 to start fresh and look ahead for a brighter future for all of us. This year has really made all of us much older, and wiser (hopefully!), as we have navigated horrendous economic tides, a presidential race to top all others and lets not forget the plunging homes prices.Â
However, admist all of the turmoil, one thing is for sure. This year has been the best one yet on the recordbooks for the smartphone industry. This year the industry as a whole propelled itself to a whole new level. We have seen technology come a long way and some of the mainstays of the next few years have become mainstream. A perfect example of this is touch-screen technology.
Right now there is such a buzz in smartphones that I don’t know where to begin. Content for apps, downloads, and games is taking center stage with all major handset manufacturers as well as wireless carriers. Apps, in my opinion, are a great way to customize a device with all the tools you need in your daily life.
And let’s not forget the amazing number of smartphones that were introduced this year. I know it was dizzying but need I remind you that such competition is good for the consumer. Device prices are getting lower everyday and technology is only getting better. I have no complaints against that!Â
So I offer a hearty congratulations to all handset makers, wireless carriers, mobile app & content developers, accessory manufacturers (for simply being able to keep up with the frenzy!) and mostly the smartphone consumer. Without you none of the others would be here.
