They say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery…..so does this mean that Chinese cell phone manufacturer Sciphone is completely obsessed with the G1? November 28 marks the launch date of the Sciphone Dream G2 which runs on a watered down version of the Android O.S. with a strangely familiar UI.  The G1 replica also features EDGE data, WiFi, 4-megapixel camera with autofocus, 50MB of internal memory, micro SD expansion to 16GB, FM radio and a 2.8″ QVGA display. Thanks to little or no copyright infringement laws in China, the G1 isn’t the first Smartphone to be cloned; the Sciphone i68 mysteriously resembled the iPhone.Â
T-Mobile started selling a digital picture frame, dubbed the T-Mobile Cameo, that can act as a wireless device with it’s own cellular modem and receive pictures from any mobile phone. Parrot first cam out with this type of technology back in 2006, and sales didn’t do so good.Â
And here I was complaining about the G1 not receiving Google’s precious voice recognition app. I’m okay with that now, now that it’s inevitable that the G1 runs Flash 10. First of all this is huge, considering the Flash deficit, both the iPhone and Blackberry face. Second, did you see the video clip from the Adobe Max Conference……this is full on interactivity: zooming and panning. This takes web browsing and gaming to a whole new level. Now if only I could get a release date!
I was just at my local T-Mobile store and the manager told me that not only will they not get the white and bronze colors for the G1 in stock before Thanksgiving, it’s going to be more like January 2009 before we see those babies. Those colors are backordered like crazy!!
So, just sit tight for now and go get yours in Black if you don’t already have it. It is in stock in most of the T-Mobile stores.
One thing we won’t be giving thanks for this year, is the delay in the White G1’s re-debut. Rumor is that the T-Mobile White G1 won’t be making it in time for Thanksgiving holiday, raggedy news for those waiting to get their hands on the ” great white”.Â
Ever wonder just how much it costs to manufacture that expensive smartphone?? Well, I did…and after a bit of snooping I was quite surprised at the results. According to a virtual teardown by iSuppli Corp., the T-Mobile G1 carries a Bill-of-Materials (BOM) cost of $143.89.Â
Ever feel like spying on your friends or stalking your enemies?? Well now you can with the latest Android App, coming soon to an Android Market near you. Loopt is a social networking application; some of you may be familiar with this app via the iPhone.Â
First RC29…now RC30. Google has begun releasing some details about the vulnerabilities it patched in two updates to Google’s Android operating system software in the T-Mobile G1 smartphone.
