AT&T to boost 3G Network Capacity for iPhone
April 27th, 2009 | by Jhananthi Janakiraman |iPhone users and AT&T’s wireless customers will get to enjoy a year end bonanza, or so it seems. AT&T has on its cards a highly responsive and reliable network by doubling the capacity of its 3G network.
Soon it expects to begin migrating to the faster HSDPA+ standard, offering speeds of even 21 Mbps or 28 Mbps.
No more dropped calls with AT&T service, if that sounds like music to your ears, it will soon be a reality. The company is doubling the downlink capacity of its High Speed Packet Access (HSPA) 3G network in the US taking it to 7.2 Mbps from 3.6 Mbps.
The network capacity will be augmented enough to take care of devices like the iPhone, data-card services for notebooks and netbooks with 3G connectivity.
With the much hyped third version of the iPhone round the corner, network upgrades have to be made to feed the data hungry iPhone devices, decided AT&T proactively and has already started on testings, it seems.
Now iPhone users can go ahead and put their devices to unimaginable number of uses and yet not strain the network.
