Storm 2 coming in June/July

Well, in general, I would be exceedingly skeptical of such a rumor, but this one comes from a fairly reputable source and one that is the head of his own BlackBerry community. BlackberryOS (of the site of the same name) released information that the Storm 2 was going to be released in the next couple of months, likely June, but July at the very latest. Other sites have unfortunately taken the article a bit out of context and said that the phone could be released this month, but the chance of that happening involves a decimal point in more than a couple zeros. The information comes from a “senior level” staff member, who says that Verizon technical support staff will complete their training of the product this week, well in time for a launch.
Obviously, this indicates that the Storm 2, like it’s predecessor will likely be a Verizon only product, at least in the foreseeable future, also confirmed is the inclusion of Wi-fi, something almost completely foreign for VW customers. Hopefully this will mean more Wi-Fi enabled devices will be hitting Verizon from now on. We can only hope that the problems that have plagues the first generation Storm will not be present in this updated model.
What about current Storm customers? Well, I get the feeling you have some tough times ahead of you. I hate to say it, but I seriously doubt the poor support will get any better from now on, especially with the recent problems. In fact, I would probably assume that Verizon/BB are just going to cut their losses on the first storm and basically ignore it completely from now on. Once the Storm 2 is released, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Storm’s problems were completely ignored. Unfortunately, someone in marketing probably thinks this is a good idea since people who want a non-buggy BlackBerry Storm will have to upgrade… an expensive proposition considering basically everyone is still well within their two year contract period.
Regardless, this is still a rumor, even if it does come from a trustworthy outlet, so don’t get too excited or upset.
