U2 releasing special mobile album for BlackBerry fans

Welcome to the U2-BlackBerry era! The impending launch of the U2 “mobile album” mentioned on the Research In Motion’s website has made it pretty clear that an interesting collaboration will be coming soon enough. U2 has been doing this type of tie-up for a long time, and they’re going to do the same thing again, though this time not for Apple, but for BlackBerry fans (and that too in great style)! I guess Apple’s special edition U2 iPods and their heavy-promotion of the band are history.

As of now, all that can be seen is a cryptic video teaser, which somewhat seems to be an interesting app, which may allow BlackBerry users to share U2 concert video clips, apart from reading news updates, and watching videos as usual.

For the first time U2 has shown interest to release a mobile album, which they had not done even for Apple. So, it makes you wonder, if they’re missing that Apple advantage and trying to make it up with newer strategies, or is this just a genuine effort to get serious in mobile music arena, and widen their horizons.

However, there’s no update on either the availability or the pricing, though many are speculating now that Blackberry Tour 9630 just launched, RIM + U2 may unveil their collaboration shortly.
