BlackBerry Bold 9700 – BlackBerry Onyx
September 9th, 2009 | by Pallavi Dinesh |What is the Canadian smartphone manufacturer, Research In Motion, going to be putting out this fall in addition to the much-anticipated BlackBerry Storm 2? The competition is certainly heating up between the various smartphone manufacturers. Now that Labor Day ‘09 is over and the kids are back in school, we are officially into Fall. And what that means is an onslaught of devices to be launched prior to the Christmas shopping season.

BlackBerry Bold 9700, also referred to as BlackBerry Onyx in some places, has the standard BlackBerry fare that many have come to love and expect. A full QWERTY keyboard is still a must for many BlackBerry users and here RIM does not disappoint. They know who their market is and are still willing to stave off the virtual keyboard for as long as possible. Not everyone wants an iPhone after all right?
This new Bold will be expected at T-Mobile, and maybe even at AT&T sometime in November, and will be a 3G phone with WiFi and built in GPS. Here’s an excerpt from T-Mobile about the device:
“The BlackBerry ‘Onyx’ sports a premium experience and design with a high-gloss black finish and leather grain detail on the back. Boasting features such as high-speed 3G Web browsing, Wi-Fi calling, visual voicemail and support for corporate and personal e-mail options, the ‘Onyx’ will satisfy all your on-the-go needs. Also the phone comes preloaded with mobile applications from BlackBerry App World, including Amazon MP3 store for quick and easy music downloads and TeleNav GPS Navigator for turn-by-turn directions.”
