Advanced Bluetooth Chips to Enhance the Data Transfer Speed
April 26th, 2009 | by Prachi Mehta |One of the most important features without which the smartphone users just cannot live with is Bluetooth. It is the technology which has revolutionized that data transfer facilities in the smartphones and other portable devices.Â
One of the limitations with the Bluetooth technology is the low speed of data transfer. The good news is that is not going to stay that way for long. The companies involved in the advancement of this technology are determined to increase the data transfer speed by 10 folds. All this is projected to happen in the first quarter of 2010.Â
The Bluetooth special interest group is all set to create the standard for the 3.0 version in order to facilitate fast data transfer features. Transferring movies and big files from the personal computers to the cell phones and other Bluetooth enabled media devices will be a lot faster with the upcoming version of Bluetooth.Â
The CSR, Broadcom Corporation and Atheros Communications are actively involved in making the products which are compatible with the new and faster version of Bluetooth chips. The existing Bluetooth chips takes support from the Wi-Fi chips from the same device for the transfer of the bulkier files. The connection between these two chips is always maintained along with the standby option for the conservation of power when not in use.Â
However, we cannot get rid of the USB data cables just yet because in spite of the increase in the proposed speed enhancement of Bluetooth, it is still a lot slower than the USB cables.
