Of course rumours are just rumours and it may just prove to be nothing, but not if Apple’s three recent patent filings has anything to do with it. Apparently Apple is working on a stylus that will compete directly with Samsung’s S-Pen, but will host more features such as a mini barcode scanner and motion gesture password protection support. The rumoured iPhone Plus, a iPhone/iPad cross might just be Apple’s answer to Samsung’s successful Galaxy Note series. Of course, an ‘iPen’ would put a spanner in the works for Cregle Inc.’s iPen and iPen 2.

According to him there are over 23 million iOS devices that has been jailbroken with Evasi0n, with over 14 million of those devices being devices that run iOS 6 or higher. It’s quite a jump from the 7 million iOS 6 users within the first four days of the jailbreak’s availability and Apple’s next iOS 6 update, iOS 6.1.3, is said to bring a fix that will render the tool useless. Knowing jailbreakers though, an update should arrive shortly thereafter.

Apple has been found guilty of infringing on VirnetX’s patents regarding creating virtual private networks between two devices within it’s iMessage and Facetime applications. A judge has ordered the Silicon Valley giant to pay VirnetX $330,211 per day that a settlement agreement isn’t reached, dating back to November 6. They also have to pay $368 million in damages and royalties. The judge has provided the two companies with 45 days to reach an agreement, each day of which Apple would have to pay. Paying though, should not be any problem for Apple, which currently has over $137 billion in cash reserves.

Cheaper plastic iPhone suggested to come in 2014 for $330

Rumours have been circulating for a while now regarding a cheaper iPhone, possibly an iPhone Mini, and Apple has denied such rumours, but according to Japanese blog, Macotakara, there is a more affordable iPhone on the way, made out of plastic.

Macotakara reports, from inside sources, that the more affordable iPhone will launch sometime in 2014 made entirely out of polycarbonate plastic, the same material used on Nokia’s Lumia devices as well as the HTC One S. The device is said to retail for roughly $330 and look virtually identical to the iPhone 5, with the exception being a bigger 4.5-inch display. Apple has previously squashed rumours of an iPhone Mini, but never mentioned anything about a more affordable, bigger version. Apple did the same with the iPad Mini, denying a 7-inch tablet for years and then unveiling the 7.85-inch tablet nonetheless. Once again, these are just rumours and could just be entirely fabricated.

Apple iOS 6.1.2 update available

Apple today released an update to its latest version of iOS, iOS 6.1.2 which is compatible with all iOS 6 devices.

Fommy has a wide variety of quality Apple accessories, including iPhone 5 accessories.

The Over The Air update is only 12.6MB and Apple says that it will only fix a single bug; “Fixes and Exchange calendar bug that could result in increased network activity and reduced battery life.” There are no mentions of any security updates so jailbreaks should not have an issue, but Evasi0n has just released Evasi0n 1.4 for iOS 6.1.2 devices. No word on whether or not the security passcode bug has been fixed either and Apple has remained mum on the matter.
