Supposed Nokia Lumia 950 pops up online

It has taken a whole two years, but choosing Windows Phone as their primary smart phone operating system seems to have paid off for Nokia as WP starts to catch on globally. As the operating system expands, there will be a need for a regularly updated flagship and as the Nokia Lumia 920 ages, a successor should be on the horizon.

The supposed Nokia Lumia 950 is expected to be yet another imaging flagship from the Finns and is said to feature an AMOLED PureMotion HD display with a 1280×768 pixel resolution on the front with a larger-than-competitors’-sensor on the back accompanied by a Xenon flash to lighten up all the night shots you plan on taking.

Disqus releases Windows Phone exclusive app

Disqus has just made Windows Phone users pretty happy as they released the Windows Phone exclusive Disqus application.

The application is available to all Windows Phone devices for free from the WP Marketplace. It’s one of the first applications from a large 3rd party developer to reach the platform before any other. Disqus have said that they currently have no plans for any Android or iOS variants of the application. Some key features include:

? Follow friends, frenemies, dinosaurs, and site authors to get updates on their activity throughout the web

? Explore the thousands of active communities and millions of active discussions within the app in the Explore section

Nokia and P2i said to be working on a fully waterproof device


Nokia and P2i have reportedly struck a deal to bring a waterproof Nokia smart phone to the market before the end of 2013.

Nokia is known for their active role in Graphene research, a material that is only one atom thick, but still stronger and more conductive than most metals, and has been rumoured for almost two years now to incorporate the material into their devices to make them stronger and waterproof. In the latest spat of rumours Nokia is said to be teaming up with P2i to create a truly water resistant smart phone that is protected on a molecular level, taking away the need for caps and special materials to construct devices out of.

okia’s CEO, Stephen Elop, today announced that the Windows Phone Martketplace now hosts over 130,000 applications.

Three years after being launched, the Windows Phone platform now boasts over 130,000 applications, alomst double that of the newly launched BlackBerry 10′s supposed 70,000. The WP Marketplace plays host to a number of titles, that Nokia and its partners have secured over the time whilst trying to convince users to switch over from the current title holders; Android and iOS, both of which feature over 700,000 of applications in their respective application stores. New additions to the store included a rebranded version of Nokia’s HERE map suite as well as the popular WhatsApp Messenger for Windows Phone 8.

Nokia announces four new devices at MWC 2013

Nokia today took to the stages at this years Mobile World C0ngres and announced their’latest additions to their Lumia and Asha line of devices.

The Nokia Lumia 520 will be the company’s lowest end Windows Phone 8 device featuring a 1GHZ dual core processor, 512MB of RAM, 8GB of expandable storage and a 1430mAh battery. It’s equipped with a 5MP camera and a super sensitive 4-inch WVGA display. Prices are expected to be in the range of $180. The Nokia Lumia 720 is a mid-range Windows Phone 8 device with a high-end camera. The Lumia 720 features a 1GHz dual core processor, 512MB of RAM, 8GB of expandable storage and will be able to charge wirelessly through an additional cover. It will have a 6.7MP camera with a f/1.9 aperture, great for lowlight shooting. The Lumia 720 will be equipped with a 4.3-inch WVGA curved glass display featuring Corning’s Gorilla Glass 2 for protection. It is expected to cost around $330. Both devices will feature HSPA+ as well as WiFi.

The Nokia Asha 105 is the most affordable Nokia available on the market today at just $20. It features a colour screen as well as a FM Radio, a flashlight and dust & splash resistance. It will be available in black as well as cyan and is expected to go on sale during March in African, Middle Eastern, Asia-Pacific and European markets. The Nokia Asha 301 is a basic, “high-end” feature phone. At $85 it packs a bunch of exciting features such as a 2.4-inch QVGA screen, 3.5G connectivity and a 3.2MP camera with added features usually found on the higher end Lumia series. It will will be available in cyan, black, magenta, yellow and white and a dual SIM variant is expected to go on sale too.
