August 10th, 2009 | by Pallavi Dinesh |
Just on the heels of the details we revealed last week about Motorola’s secret Android phone project, Android and Me blog has gotten some seriously juicy gossip. Of course, none of this is confirmed by Motorola or Sanjay Jha yet but read on to get an idea of what to expect in a couple of months.
According to hardware specs posted on the blog Android and Me, Motorola’s forthcoming Android phones pack some serious firepower.
T-Mobile is rumored to be launching a Motorola Android device codenamed Morrison on Oct. 21. According to the Android and Me post, the Morrison will feature an HVGA display, a Qualcomm MSM7201A 528 MHz processor, 256 MB of RAM memory, a 5-megapixel camera, WiFi, 3.5 mm headset jack, video recording and an internal compass. The phone also will sport an accelerometer with four-way screen rotation, a proximity sensor and an ambient light sensor, according to the leaked specs.
Verizon Wireless is rumored to be launching Motorola’s other Android phone, codenamed Sholes. The phone is said to have a 3.7-inch touchscreen and will run Android 2.0, which is rumored to focus on gaming and multimedia. The Sholes will feature a Texas Instruments OMAP3430 600 MHz processor, a 5-megapixel camera, GPS and WiFi. The phone is rumored to launch in November.
Motorola has not given any official details about its upcoming Android phones, but co-CEO Sanjay Jha has said they will support “integrated contact and message management, multimedia and social collaboration.”

The phone is codenamed Morrison and will be launching on T-Mobile (yep, that will be their 3rd Android smartphone) October 21. Â Last October was when the T-Mobile G1 first launched and just recently its been followed up with the myTouch 3G. And now we can expect Morrison from Motorola. Now, as you know they have been out of the touch screen smartphone game altogether but they are coming back with a mega-phone.
Here’s some of the specs:
5 megapixel camera
HVGA display
a Qualcomm MSM7201A 528 MHz processor
256 MB of RAM memory
WiFi
3.5 mm headset jack
video recording
internal compass
an accelerometer with four-way screen rotation
a proximity sensor
and an ambient light sensor
That’s definitely some list right? In addition, not to be left out Verizon Wireless is getting its first Android phone as well in November. “Sholes” will also have a 5 megapixel camera and WiFi although other details are still not clear.
