BlackBerry PlayBook spotted running Apple iOS apps

BlackBerry PlayBook
Yes, even though the tablet from BlackBerry may not be the best choice in the market, it is proving to be an interesting one – thanks to the QNX technology used the PlayBook it already had the ability to run certain re-packaged Android apps and the variety of Android apps for PlayBook were only increasing. Well, guess what the PlayBook can also run native iOS apps – yes, you read it right!

Demonstration videos of the system first appeared over this weekend, the developer is working hard on this and does seem to be achieving some level of success.

This is possible because Apple’s custom chips are based on standard ARM cores supporting identical  instruction set as the OMAP 4 in the BlackBerry PlayBook, this is why PlayBook can directly execute iOS app code. Demo videos show games running on the PlayBook without any issues, even with full  blown 3D graphics. The development is at a very premature state at the moment and we can only hope that this project takes off!
