Yahoo – creeping onto European phones

According to Bloomberg.com, Yahoo is in talks with Vodafone about using their mobile search engine product as the default search sold by Vodafone in Europe, which could be a substantial boost to the severely trailing Yahoo in both the mobile and web search markets. If the deal goes through, it would be Yahoo’s most substantial move in the Mobile market yet, and perhaps they are testing the waters for an even larger investment.

While rumors of a Yahoo phone have been whispered ever since the announcement of the Google’s Android OS, there has never been any official announcement from Yahoo confirming or denying said rumors. But as Yahoo continues to struggle against Google’s dominance in both markets, they will have to find more ways to compete, and triumph, over them. While this is a good first step to competing with Google in this marketplace, they have a very late start and a very long road a head of them if they ever wish to surpass them.
