Palm Pre WebOS Gets Update
June 14th, 2009 | by Pallavi Dinesh |Although this slipped by a lot of people, on the day the PalmPre was launched, there was already a firmware update pushed to Web OS for some  bugs in the system and updates for adding native apps, including an alarm clock. I can’t believe it has gotten this bad that as devices are getting launched now they are already getting updates… This just goes to show two things: 1) Our smartphones are getting more and more computer-like in technology requiring frequent fixes and updates and 2) due to pressure to get devices to market ASAP, there isn’t much time left for R&D.
The update codenamed as, WebOS Version 1.0.2 apparently didn’t come soon enough for some people who had the device in their hands and had already started complaining  about the OS crashing among other problems. The Palm Pre has reportedly sold 50,000 pieces on launch weekend, claiming a big success for Sprint and Palm both. The 67MB software update can be accessed over the air to Sprint users in the US.
