BlackBerry Tour 9630 CDMA Smartphone
July 1st, 2009 | by Jhananthi Janakiraman |The BlackBerry Tour 9630 is a non-touchscreen smartphone with full QWERTY keyboard for CDMA carries. Soon to be on Verizon Wireless and Sprint in USA, the carriers list may soon also include Alltel, Bell, and Telus.

BlackBerry Tour 9630 will boast of World Phone capabilities on a 3G network. It is even considered as an upgrade to the Curve.
The BlackBerry Tour is an interesting combo of the BlackBerry Bold 9000, BlackBerry Curve 8900, and the BlackBerry Storm 9500 series, and is replacing the BlackBerry 8830 World Edition (you know the one rumored to be carried by President Obama).
Its keyboard will be like that of the Bold and its size lies between 8900 and Bold. The device comes with a 3.2 megapixel camera like the Storm and Curve 8900 and has enhanced multimedia features as per RIM. The camera comes with flash and auto focus.Â
The Bold is known for its keyboard allowing you to type fast without many mistakes and the keys are spaced when compared to the cramped keyboard of the 8900. Now here we have the Tour with a 35 key keyboard, which is both compact and spaced both at the same time.
The solid BlackBerry Tour features a 480 x 360 HVGA display on a LCD screen which was much appreciated in the Curve 8900. The device also has GPS, A-GPS features besides a microUSB port and microSD card slot.
While the Bold and Curve 8900 were for GSM carriers, here we have the Tour for CDMA carriers. If you have a Bold right now, maybe you will envy the compact form factor and camera of the new Tour. If you are an 8900 fan then you will certainly notice the better keyboard on the Tour as well as its data speed capabilities.
All in all, the BlackBerry Tour lets you do more where ever you are in the world being compatible with global networks. The real question now is, when is President Obama getting his upgrade?
