Indian Mobile Handset market revenue down by 5% in 2011

Cell Phone AccessoriesAll is not rosy and bubbly in the Indian markets, the mobile market too has taken a hit in the last year and the figures clearly indicate the same. The revenue of the Indian Mobile handset market has gone down by 5% in 2011 according to CyberMedia’s Indian Telecom Industry.

The total revenue dropped from Indian Rupees 33,300 crores to Indian Rupees 31,200 crores(figures rounded off).

Surprisingly Nokia maintained its lead in the Indian market holding and impressive 38 percent of the market, but on the whole it saw its market share shrink as Android based smartphones from Samsung and HTC gorged its smartphone market hold. Samsung had a growth of 38 percent and it became the second largest phone vendor with 25.3 percent of market share.  Refer to the table above for details.
