Ben Color Capture App: For Your Imagination & Beyond

I came across a great app recently… the Ben Color Capture App for Apple iPhone & iPod Touch devices from Benjamin Moore paints. This application is free and is a great way to help you identify & match colors everywhere around you. Available now for download from the Apple App Store.

Made with the intent of helping you capture colors you see in nature, in everyday life, and at unexpected turns, the application works very simply. See a color you like? Simply, launch the application and take an image of the color(s) you like and within seconds the Ben Sherman color chart will show you corresponding color. It works simply and amazingly well and I can think of tons of other places this is useful like when you go shopping for clothes & shoes or even when you’re trying to coordinate an event like a wedding.

By the way, you can store  your favorite colors for referencing later. Also, for additional coordinating colors, just give your device a shake and it will help you create a ‘harmonizing palette’ based on your original color choice. In addition, the app also has a great full spectrum color wheel for referencing that’s as easy to use as the rest of the app itself.

I used this application to coordinate a favorite toy of my daughter’s to the wall color for her room. The best part is I don’t have to haul the toy into a paint store anymore and most importantly I don’t have to second guess myself.
