Only 6 months back we heard that Windows Phone Marketplace has reached 50,000 apps milestone – and now Microsoft at it’s Windows Phone 8 event, revealed that Windows Phone Marketplace now has 100,000 apps ready for download! Microsfot claims that this has been the fastest journey to 100,000 apps – even faster than Apple!
To add to the celebration Microsoft confirmed that Zynga’s Draw Something and Word with Friends apps are coming very soon to Windows Phone – interesting times ahead!
Only yesterday that we heard from Google about the re-branding of Android Market as Google Play, the reason behind the same was not quite clear, and neither were it’s implications. We even learnt that Google Music will be re-branded and perhaps integrated as well, however now we have already started seeing it roll out in some regions around the world. Read more
Remember the Siri counterpart for the Windows Phone platform ? A couple of months “Ask Ziggy” came up, yes, and everyone was quite impressed by what it could do – especially considering the premature nature of most of the apps on the Windows Phone platform, which is very new and unsettled compared to iOS from Apple. Remember downloading your favorite game and then being all excited only to see the message on start-up “This game requires additional xyz MB of download” ? Well, hopefully that will be gone soon. There was an upper limit of 50 MB on the apps uploaded on Android market, which is why you saw that message, but now Google has raised that limit to 4GB considering how high quality apps and games do tend to be heavier than a mere 50 MB.
