Verizon: Blackberry is King

Though most of us grew up hearing “Less is More”,  Verizon has clearly decided that motto won’t work for them. Most people have probably heard about their deal a few months ago where they were selling phones “buy one get one free”. The promotion was a great strategy but at the time it’s newer smart-phones were exempt from the sale. They have also just placed into effect the price drop on some of their phones to ninety nine dollars a piece.

Now Verizon Wireless is back for more, and even better they’ve decided to do the next promo with all of the Blackberry’s. For avid Blackberry fans this exciting deal could seem to good to be true, but it’s not. All of the Blackberry’s at Verizon are buy one get one (of equal or lesser value) for free and the price drop on the phones are still in effect.

Verizon first launched the promotion in February of this year. People speculated that the sudden price slash then “buy one” promo was started in order to clear out merchandice to make room for new smart-phones such as the new HTC Touch Pro 2. That line of thinking has slowed based on the release of the new HTC phone by competing company TMobile. There are still rumors that Verizon may be launching new smart-phones soon, but that has yet to be confirmed. Until we know for sure Blackberry Fans all over should take advantage of Verizon’s exhibit of good natured generosity.

BlackBerry Storm 2 to come with Wi-Fi

Word on the street is that BlackBerry Storm 2 will not only be a revamped version of the current Storm device, but it will also come with Wi-Fi and probably a brand new screen. Obviously, this is a smart move, and probably a much needed improvement by RIM, because a smartphone with the calibre of Storm doesn’t feel complete without basic communication features like Wi-Fi.  Read more

BlackBerry Storm Price Drops; Signals BlackBerry Storm 2 Coming Soon

storm_full_side

The RIM BlackBerry Storm smartphone is now officially priced under $100 at Verizon Wireless and is competing toe to toe with the iPhone 3G, which is also an equally-priced, older touch screen model available at AT&T. That can only mean one thing. RIM and Verizon Wireless are getting ready to launch the BlackBerry Storm 2 soon!

While I certainly recommed to AT&T customers who have never had an iPhone before that getting the iPhone 3G model at the $99 price point is a good idea if you just can’t manage to spend the extra $100 to get the latest iPhone 3Gs model, I send a strong warning out that if you are considering the BlackBerry Storm current model then you should wait it out till the fall for the newer version. The price will be higher (most like at $199 as well), but it will be well worth it since the bugs will have been worked out (hopefully) and improvements in touch screen technology as well as WiFi are welcome additions.
