According to US regulatory filings, former BlackBerry co-CEO and third largest share holder, Jim Balsillie, has sold most of his 5.1% stake in the Canadian giant.
The filings detailed that Balsillie’s stake in BlackBerry had gone below the mandatory reporting threshold by December 31, 2012 and analysts speculate that Balsillie, who is no longer involved with BlackBerry Ltd, previously known as Research in Motion Ltd, sold of his entire stake in the company doubting its future with their QNX-based BlackBerry 10 mobile operating system. Troubled BlackBerry makes RIM is still in news, this time because omages of 10-inch BlackBerry PlayBook has surfaced on a Vietnamese website. The BlackBerry roadmap that leaked also mentioned a 10-inch BlackBerry PlayBook scheduled for Q3 2013. It is supposed to take on the iPad, if it ever makes it to the market.
Supposedly the 10-inch PlayBook will come with a SIM card slot at the back that would support 3G/HSPA+ and 4G networks. This, might just be a prototype and the model may have been cancelled, only time will tell.

Alec Saunders, VP Developer Relations at RIM, recently announced at the BlackBerry Dev Jam session in Beijing, China that BlackBerry App World has crossed the milestone of 3 billion app downloads on the Playbook tablet and other BlackBerry phones.
These numbers come at a time where RIM is surrounded with negativity and bad news , these are pretty impressive as it has taken 176 days to reach that last billion compared to 210 for the 2nd and 786 for the 1st billion milestone.
Certainly good news for BlackBerry fans like myself, some hope still remains.
