According to US regulatory filings, former BlackBerry co-CEO and third largest share holder, Jim Balsillie, has sold most of his 5.1% stake in the Canadian giant.
The filings detailed that Balsillie’s stake in BlackBerry had gone below the mandatory reporting threshold by December 31, 2012 and analysts speculate that Balsillie, who is no longer involved with BlackBerry Ltd, previously known as Research in Motion Ltd, sold of his entire stake in the company doubting its future with their QNX-based BlackBerry 10 mobile operating system. Balsille is estimated to have made roughly $300 million from the sale.
