Rumor Roundup: With 10 days to go, iPhone 5 as we know it!

iPhone 5Yes, ladies and gentlemen – that time of the year where we all are super excited, some for being Apple fans and the others out of curiosity – the alleged iPhone 5 or 2012 iPhone or the 6th generation iPhone launch is only ten, yes TEN days away! Scheduled to be held on September 12 2012, we’ll keep you posted through these ten days and on the d-day itself!

As part of our countdown to the next iPhone – here is a rumor roundup of what we seriously do expect to be part of the iPhone 5 – you can also read our exclusive iPhone 5 detailed report which we published a while back!

Rumors:

Smaller SIM card

Alleged new iPhone 5 photos show a slightly smaller home button and a narrower SIM card tray than in the iPhone 4/4S. The possibility of a nano-SIM has surfaced previously. If true, it could make more space for a larger battery – on doing a little research locally I discovered that carriers were aware of nano-SIM and they did tell me that the time taken for a nano-SIM to be delivered after a request initially will be two to three weeks!

Back to the taller screen
One of the most popular new iPhone 5 rumors surfaced again when CNet reported that Apple has been testing a taller display for its next handset. 9to5Mac used iOS development tools to simulate a 640×1,136-pixel-resolution screen, which gave the phone five rows of icons stacked vertically above the dock, instead of the four displayed with iOS 5. Also, our detailed report confirms this – so a taller screen with same width – interesting move there, Appple!

9-pin connector

We’ve already told you about this possibility – now it’s more or less confirmed that Apple will shrink the iPhone’s 30-pin connector to 9 pins. This will open a wide array for accessories and new accessories, including some sort of convertors which bridge the gap of reverse compatibility between iPhone 5 and the previous generation of iPhones – watch out Fommy.com for all the latest accessories for the iPhone 5 – surely they will hit our stores fastest and at best prices, we got you covered there!

No YouTube

Lots of the chatter right now is more about what may not be in the next iPhone than what will be in it. According to some chatter there will be no pre-installed YouTube app in the next version of the operating system, according to a report at 9to5Mac, independent app for the win here, why would Apple want to embed their arch rivals app? Good move Apple!
